Computing + Society (C+S) is a unique interdisciplinary program analyzing how technologies shape our everyday lives.
C+S treats computing as an object of analysis, asking how society shapes computing and computing shapes society. This approach is distinct from computational social science and computational humanities, for which computing is a tool of analysis. C+S is methodologically flexible and includes quantitative, qualitative, and conceptual work.
C+S covers four main pillars, which will be reflected in research initiatives and educational offerings. Projects, faculty, and classes may focus on a single pillar, but will often operate across multiple pillars.
