Computing + Society Postdoctoral Fellow
Ankolika De joins C+S from the Informatics program at Penn State University. Her dissertation, The Politics of Platform Change: How Change Is Communicated and Experienced, examines how social media platforms construct and legitimize change and how users navigate the resulting disruptions to their everyday practices. Her broader research explores the relationships among technology, power, and society, including how communities adapt technologies to local needs, how institutions shape technological futures through discourse, and how more community-centered sociotechnical systems can be designed. At Vanderbilt, she plans to investigate community-governed alternatives to dominant digital platforms, develop frameworks for participatory platform design, and examine how discourse shapes public understandings and governance of AI and emerging technologies.
