About
Dr. Gabor Karsai received his BSc, MSc, and Dr Techn degrees from the Technical University of Budapest, in 1982, 1984 and 1988, respectively, and his PhD from Vanderbilt University in 1988. He is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University and Senior Research Scientist and member of the Executive Council of the Institute for Software-Integrated Systems. He is also an External Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has over thirty years of experience in software engineering. He conducts research in the design and implementation of embedded systems, in programming tools for visual programming environments and in the theory and practice of model-integrated computing. He has published over 200 papers, and he is the co-author on four patents. He has led several large research projects, including projects on advanced scheduling and resource management algorithms, fault-adaptive control and real-time fault diagnostics technology, and software platforms for managed distributed real-time embedded systems with applications in power systems. Currently, his work is in the application of AI in autonomous engineered systems, including design and dependable operations.
