About
Md Kamrul Hasan is an Assistant Professor of the Practice of Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. His research centers on smartphone-based diagnostic techniques for non-invasive point-of-care testing, with an emphasis on extracting physiological signals from smartphone-captured images to measure blood constituent levels.
Dr. Hasan earned his Ph.D. in Computational Sciences from Marquette University, USA and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Trento, Italy. He was awarded the Northwestern Mutual Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Computer Science at Marquette University and subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before accepting his current position in Vanderbilt’s Department of Computer Science.
His honors include the Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellowship at Marquette University (2018), the Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship at Kyushu University, Japan (2014), and the Opera Universitaria Scholarship at the University of Trento, Italy (2007–2009).
